FS: UNLOCKED Moto Q 9 Global (originally from At&t) - Motorola Q Forum

Hey all..

Im new here...but just some information about this:

I am on At&t and was having a lot problems with my old Moto Razr V3xx - I went through about 3 different phones and was finally offered a replacement upgrade...for some reason the CS rep said that the Moto Q was available if I wanted it..I really knew nothing about smartphones and I said I would call back. I read a little and decided it was the best choice and said sure why not...so I received it yesterday. Great phone...I got the whole kit, everything you need except for the instruction booklet (pdf version available online) and I dont have the active-sync CD (which is also available online); I have links for both. I also was not sent the mirco-usb to 3.5mm adapter. But everything else I have:

The phone, battery, battery door...extended battery, ex. battery door, data cable, micro usb to mini usb adapter, and micro usb charger.

I have used it today and find the WS very easy to use and quick. The thing is...I really do not need this phone and dont feel like paying for a data plan.

I explained my situation to someone at work and FINALLY, the boys upstairs decided it was time I got my own BB...so here I am. I do not need this phone and work is going to pay for the BB, go figure.

So up for sale is this great phone...not sure what its worth, but to help everyone out I called At&t and got an unlock code and unlocked it this morning. I had my friends T-Mobile sim in it and was making calls NP.

I see an unlocked Q9 Global on eBay at about $380 with 2 days left...I figure this will fetch probably $400.

Gee one thing didnt make sense tho...I dont recall when we were with att that u could just call and unlock ur phone. i guess that is new.

Im not trying to make a quick anything.

You are not able to get a one of these phones or any type of phone for that matter really cheap without signing a new contract. Unless you eligible for an upgrade.

That is how much these phones run without a contract and I simply asked for offers. Going by eBay is probably the most accurate way to see what items are worth to the general public.

Second, yes you can call and ask for an unlock code. Most people do not know that, but it is quite easy. You just have to know what to say.

I know about the contract stuff. We've had cell phone service for years. I have purchased phones via other means so as not extend another contract. IMO i wouldnt pay $400, unless it rubbed my feet, or made me breakfast lol. When I do sell, i do check ebay but also other sources.

So since im clueless on how to get a rep to unlock a phone. Whats the secret? Ive sold a few phones with sim card capabilities. I but havent had to deal with that in years. Maybe my understanding of unlocking a phone is different. Just thinks its unusual u can call and reps will just do it....so many ads I see for people who get paid to unlock phones.

Speaking of rubbing feet and breakfast its about that time of the morning! ....again good luck on your sale.

sorry I miss-read your post.

What you need to do about the unlock thing is call your carrier and explain that you are leaving the country and want to be able to use a local sim card to avoid roaming charges. Most companies do this (T-Mo allows a certain amount within a month if you have been with them for at least 90 days). Att CS said that she would put the request in and I would get an email with the code if it was approved...and that it would probably take at least 24 hrs.

In about 20 minutes I received the email with the code...

im sure once more and more people begin doing it...they will stop giving unlock codes out....

You know though as long as there are electronics people will try to figure out ways to work around the blocks put on them.

I have been around awhile, and remember if you did not have an antenna outside your house on the roof usually. You were not going to get a signal. Kind of reminded me of the aluminum foil and rabbit ears.

I think people should use their cells phones as they see fit. They shouldnt be blocked in the first place. But we allow it, sooo there is some smarty pants finding the work arounds lol
