Q9 USB to Mac work?

Has anyone had success connecting a q9c or any q9 to a Mac for syncing, specifically with the new SyncMate from Eltima? I've used bluetooth up to this point for moving files but now need a sync option to install .exes so figured I'd try this Syncmate since its free (at least while in beta).

Under Settings, Connections, USB settings I disabled the Advanced setting which awesomely lets the phone charge off a usb port now, but neither MacOS or Syncmate want to recognize the phone.

I can see from previous posts here that the old Q doesn't seem to like usb and Macs, haven't been able to find anything yet on the new Q.
