Motorola Q Sync

Hi i purchased the motorola q yesterday at the verizon store. This is my first smart phone/pda. I am using a imac G5 10.4.8 operating system. The imac is the last one of the old power pc chips before the intel macs came out.

Here is my question, I can not get my Q to sync with my mac. I downloaded the missing sync windows mobile 3.0.2 trial version. Over bluetooth the devices pair and read each other and i was able to transfer files using the bluetooth manager. When i got to the active sync part it would say connecting on my q and then could not find my device. I also tried to connect with the usb and i got to the point of one dot on the screen on my mac and that disappeared.

I do not have the have motorola wireless manager installed yet does that make a difference?
