It won't, you run Opera Mini from within the Java Client (Emulator.exe, should be in the Bin folder). Once you install the Java Client, run the Emulator, click on install and browse to where Opera Mini is stored. After the installation (you might need to reboot the phone), to run Opera Mini, you run the IBM Emulator (create shortcut) which will come up with a list of Apps installed, select Opera Mini and off you go.
After all this hustle, to be honest, I'm not very impress by Mini, I'm not a Microsoft fan, but I thinks IE is easier to use and just as fast. The good news is that once you have the Java Client installed, you can download tons of apps and games written in Java. I hope this help you.

I click on emulator.exe on the Moto Q. It loads for a hot second and then goes right back to the bin folder. What is going on?

Did u followed the steps of the IBM zip file installation (in terms of what folder to copy and where?. I think that this is a key factor, that every file should be in the folder that the app expects to find them.
Somewhere else in this thread, someone wrote detailed instructions how/where to unzip the files. Included in that posting he also has a Registry file (that you import) that associates the IBM Java emulator with Java files.
By the way, how are you running Emulator.exe, should be done using the Moto File Explorer/Manager, not your PC File Explorer. Just checking..

We're running out of options, one basic question, have you crack/UnLock your Moto Q?
When I tried to installed a program that I bought, it gave me the same symtoms, it will quickly flash/display the load screen and then it will quit. I found later that the Q needs to be unlock (thru a few changes to the Reg.) to be able to run third party software. You have to search for the Unlock setting in this forum or try QUsers.com also. You need a Reg Editor to implement these changes (Resco is a good one - get the trial version, the Reg Editor is enable).
The other Reg changes that I referred to before (associate jave files) come to play after the Emulator works properly. By the way, you can use Resco to import the the Reg files into the registry.

sorry to be a pain, but when you say you changed the registry, do you mean you unlocked the phone?
other useful forums are MoDaco and HelloQ
I don't remeber where I found the exact setting to unlock the phone, after that when I double click on the CAB file I was able to install the new app.

I found it - associate files REG - won't solve your current problem, but you need it for later, see attachement
