Default New to this forum

Hi. I am new to the Q forum and have a question I would like to ask. I have had smartphones in the past; the kyrocera, the palm 600, the palm 650 and now I have 30 days, well 27 now, to decide if I am going to keep the Qm9. I did not choose the data package, as I rarely use it. I noticed that when I went to download the one program I want, a checkbook program, the device stayed online until I did a soft reset. I then read up a little and went to task manager to explore there. When I did, the phone locked up and I had to pull out the battery. Is this a common program? And if someone sends me a picture message will it also lock on the data so I get changed major dollars for the glitch? Thanks in advance. Carol

picture messages will not count as data is you have a text/pix plan
if you on the other hand surf the net to download a program you will be using data...works out to be $15/mb so i would watch that

if you are lagging or locking up try to turn off your predictive text settings

welcome to EQ!!

do you mean the two arrows with the signal indicator? those indicate that the phone is ready for a data connection. the Icon that looks like a little Q indicates actual data transfer.

The 2 little arrows are the ones I am referring to. On my 650 Treo, that meant that the data meter was still running.

And I may decide to do a data package. Verizon has been good to me, and if I accidently add mega bucks from data, they will more than likely backdate a package for me. I have been a customer for many years and they have bailed me out a couple of times.

I am going to lurk here and try the phone to make sure its want I want. I am buying it outright and for 400.00 I want to be sure its the phone I want. I use it more for just a phone and a contact and calendar. I am still trying to sync it the computer where I can coordinate entries from my phone to the computer.

Thanks.

just look for the PDA icon as Paco said then you are using data
they are pretty good about backdating they helped me out a few times

to go back and forth with the PC make sure you have active sync and outlook...or Windows Mobile Device Center if you have vista

Vista at home...2000 at work. I had no problems loading the cd at home, but my work computer is older so it won't even read the cd. Says I need a new version of adobe program, but I will work with that as I get the time.

Thanks, I know I will learn alot from all of you!
