Default Telus VS Verizon

Ok now im totally pissed off....

Why the price between those 2 carriers are so much different?????

I mean with Verizon you can have 350 min a month + unlimited data for 80 $

With telus you can have 350 min a month + 30 meg of data per month for 90$.

Even if you convert USA$ into CA$, it make what ??? 100$ per month to have 350 min plus unlimited data???

Why telus sell their data SO DAMN F***ING expensive?????

I wonder if im not better to get a Verizon Q and pay all the long distance call. At least ill not pay for the data... OMG HELP ME!!!!!

*FURIOUS*

ya man, im with telus. and i dont know when they are going to get their act together and have an unlimited data plan. Im a loyal Telus customer, with 2 cell phones, 1 smartphone, telus tv, internet, and home phone through them and they have been nothing but good to me. Having such an expensive data plans just ticks me right off.

Since my 3 months of unlimited trial data will end soon, I check myTelusmobility.com each day to understand how I use my data, and what is expensive, and what isnt.

I saw something really bad.

Yesterday, i didnt use any data (no e-mail, no internet, no msn), and still spent 689 k, the day before same thing for a use of 895k. I read a thread that say that the Q have some program running background and using data without my authorisation (pMSNserver.exe). If that program run without my authorisation, why i suppose to pay for that. I mean, i dont want that program running in my Q, but telus put it. They do that to boost our data usage?

If we take 700k per day to run this program * 30 day a month, its make 21 meg of data per month without any use by me. Since i have 4 meg plan (and i want use it for my e-mail), I pay 12$ per meg above the 4th first. 21 meg cost me 252$ extra...... for a program running without my autorisation. Why Telus do that. Its a false presentation of their product. The seller told me that with 4 meg data I can receive about 25 e-mails of 5 k each per day without worrying about my data. He told me that a normal e-mail should take 3-4k. He didnt tell me that I need 21 more meg to "run" my cellphone.

Anyway.... I will call telus this evening and see what they tell me. Im about to cancel my data plan, and ask them to lock all my data usage to prevent that. If Telus want to devellop their data services, I really think they should offer something better than what they offer now.

Anyway, Ill keep you advise on that when Ill have more information.

i just checked my task manager on my phone, i had 3 msn programs running, messenger, hotmail, and that pmsnserver thing. i killed them all. but its crazy that they are hidding something like that from us. it more might possibly be that its a problem with msn on the Q than telus. until someone else confirms it we wont know. i will be watching that from now on. thanks for that bit of a heads up. :D

I cheked my task manager as well, and pMSNserver was running as well. I have verizon, with no data plan at the moment, and my account online says i have used a ridiculous 4,000 kbs. Thats for 1 month. I don't know how to stop all this kb usage besides killing the msn programs from task manager, any other ideas?

ya its looking like we have to kill the program. whether its good for the phone to do that or not. either way, its better than paying through the teeth for something ur not using.

Ok, sorry for those waiting the asnwer from Telus. I had just no time for the last week.

I called them to know why they charge me some data that i dont want to use.

Their answer : Our network works like that.

After a 2 hours call, I finally understand that when you downloading an e-mail, your Q download ALL the e-mail, even if you set up your Q to receive only the first 5k. In fact, the option that offer you to receive only 5k is to save on your Q 5k to save memory space. It not download only the 5k, it download all the email, then save 5k on the Q. Nothing to do to change that.

So if a guy send you a 10meg email, prepare yourself to pay for 10meg even if you ask your Q to get only the first 5k. I ask that to 3 differents people from telus support team just to be sure, and they all answer me the same thing.

So... What I will do with that?

Well, first i got a discount for my Q since guaranteed that i will keep my PDA service for 1 year. I can cancel my PDA service now if i pay the discount (about 400$). So, i choose to pay 25$ per month for 12 month = 300$, and I will cancel my PDA service after the first 12 month. Then i will have an awesome rate for my Q. It will cost me the exacte same thing than before the Q, but with so much thing included since they give me alot options because I yelled to them. HEY HEY HEY!

I suggest you to do the same thing, and maybe to send them an email complaining their services. Maybe the things will change faster!!!

P.S. When I wrote that, a guy from Telus called me to answer the email I send them to complain against their bad PDA service. Kinda funny to see how a customer's service's employee can suck their customer to make them happy.

Ok, I talked with Verizon yesterday and they told me how the pmsnserver works. I guess it is an application that is checking for an email client, or something like that. I told them I had not even synced my phone to my email yet, and they said it will still search (which uses up KB's) for a potential email acccount. I told them i was not expecting that kind og KB usage, so they credited my account fort the 80 dollars of data already used, and I purchased a 10 MB plan for $30. Sorry, there is no way around the pmsnserver application, it is always on, and always running, just kill it when you see it in task manager.

well i finally broke done and deleted the references to pmsn in the registry. This is not for the faint of heart but I got sick of having this run. I haven't seen it pop up in a day and no other issues yet . . . do at your own risk,
