Need Help I've got a beef with Telus...

So I got my phone bill yesterday...I had to pay an extra $35.00 for all the text messages I've sent over the past month! I text often so I called Telus and told them I wanted to know why I'm suddenly being charged for my text messages.

(On my previous phone, i got 400 text messages or something included in the package.) They told me with the data plan I had to get with my Q, there is no package that includes text messaging! How stupid is that, I now have a full QWERTY keyboard and there is no text messaging unless you want to pay .35 cents per msg!!

I don't believe there is a difference between which phone you text message with, it's all the same sh*t...so I told her to just put a text msg plan on my phone...she said she couldn't do it. I think this is BS. Any1 else have a similar experience?

(Thanks for letting me vent!)

hmmm that's weird. where are you located? Im in BC and with telus as well. and i know for an extra 15 a month you can get unlimited texts.

at least with new plans. that sucks though sorry to hear that. phone bills are allready highway robbery as they are.

"where are you located" wow i guess i should pay closer attention since it says where you live. I guess calgary telus isnt as good as bc telus

That's a bunch of crap. They won't sell you a plan for text messaging, but expect you to pay per msg basis. I ended getting free text messaging from Verizon due to some PDA plan loophole. With VZW, I often try CSR roulette and you might want to try the same. Also, do they allow you to change your plan online? Maybe you can try adding a text package online?

Yeah I tried adding it online as well, and there is no option to add text messaging! I don't get it...i have called them numerous times, and I keep getting an answer that "the text messaging bundle still has to be created". Total BS...that's it...I'm going to blow up the Telus building. Watch for me on the news guys!

I am actually a dealer for telus.
Until recently there were no text messenging bundles for the data devices. Recently they added two bundles: Messaging 100 for 5$ a month or unlmited messaging for 10 a month. Spark bundles are not supported with data devices. Telus claims it causes billing problems.
U must add one or the other bundles.

HAHAHA, Billing problems? I sir, used to work for the beast (TELUS) and got more calls about billing than anything else, and heres the kicker: I wasn't in a department even REMOTELY close to being billing related. Here's another example: Telus TV runs off ADSL. Some customers are too far from the CO (Central office) to get service, yet TELUS recruits them and bills them relentlessly, then they have to have credit dept and also loyalty & retention call the customer to make sure they don't cancel the rest of their services for this "unforseen mishap"

Yeah, that place drove me to drink.......lots

I to use to work for TELUS in Client Care and the billing is a nightmare on its own. Clients would be on Unlimited packages and the billing system is charging regardless. Not to mention the services that TELUS comes out with and what is required to get them and the extreme price to pay at the end of the month.
One day I hope we move towards the US calling plans where there is "Nation Wide Calling - No Long Distance Fees, Cheaper plans with more minutes and lot more features at a reasonable rate.

While working there, more things were a cash grab for the company and not a benefit to the client. Not much has changed.
