Default calling USA - Egypt

I just returned from a trip to Egypt and I am trying to figure out how to stay connected to my new friends/business associates. Is there a cheaper way of calling than the minute quotes I am getting from Verizon?

I call France all the time and i use Gorilla mobile. They charge your card monthly for only the minutes that you use ad you can have up to 10 different calling from numbers. It's great. You just dial the number and after the tone you enter the number your calling. It IDs your phone so there is no entering an account number. I have it all programed with a w (wait) and hit it when asked. I save a FAT chuck of money from not Using verizon and thats for being I have a cdma/gsm cell. Check it out and get back. Highly Recomended.

P.S. You can hoop online and see all calls and statements.

I need to travel a lot, and staying connected to my family in US is expensive. But this new service introduced by Skype where I can make unlimited calls to US & Canada in just $29.95 for 365 days is great!

They have also cut down the rates to other parts of the world.

Here's the link to the site. Skype
Maybe you can find something for yourself to.

This sounds/looks a lot like advertisement. Nice first post.

yeah, skype is a godsend for calling overseas (and great domestic calls too). and just to sweeten the deal, there are phones out that look and work just like regular corded / cordless phones, but call through skype so you don't have to be inconveniently tethered in front of the PC.

I bought this for my folks at christmas:
Linksys Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit CIT300

My quick review? So awesome to use that you feel guilty sitting on the couch or walking around the house while the other party you're talking has to wear goofy headphones while sitting in front of their computer.
