its better to get some kind of music editing software like cool edit..(Adobe edition), sony soundforge or any other sound editing prgram and jus make clips of the part of the tracks you want to use as ringtones (like 20 sec max)...youll find if you dont that the ring will jus keep ringing..especially in time when you dont want it too...theres no way to stop the ringer form ringing other than answering it...keep that in mind...the same goes for text messaging....if you get say..2 or 3 texts repeatedly youll hear your ring tone repeating itself 3 times layered one on top of the other...which is super annoying...

Cool Edit seems a little pricey for ringtones and even Sony's Soundforge was $47 on Amazon but thanks for getting me to look at a couple of more options. If I ever have more advanced sound editing needs, I'll check them out more closely.

Good advice for short ring tones I use 20 to 30 secs and download 1 or 2 sec sound for alerts. I use MPtrim but many use Audacity and both are free. Lots of forum references especially for Audacity.

^ ive never heard of anyone 'buying' cool edit..lol..i know you can buy the new 'adobe edition'(adobe bought this software from trilliom or whutever a few years ago, but its still the EXACT same program jus with a new name..)..you can get it from many places online...almost everyone that uses cool edit prolly has a pirated copy...and almost everyone's is registered to a mr. peter quistgard..hehehe...ive seen appriciation threads to Mr Quistgard on music forums ect..but noone seems to know who he is..lol..

anyway if you use msn messanger i can send you the full working version of cool edit for free......and as i said i wouldnt feel bad...i know at least 50 users off the top of my head that still use the same version as me which weve all had for over 8 years...lol....

not to mention its also one of the easiest/user friendly recording stations/music editing stations that exist....

im a professional music producer and run pro tools 7 in my studio...and even though i have bought and paid for that i still find myself editing samples and sounds with cool edit for many reasons...its WAY more user friendly...

add 'ariesproductions@gmail.com' if you wanna try it out...
