Smile Standby time...

I live in an area with poor reception, so I use my Q mostly on the road. When I am home I have been "testing" my new phones standby time (up to 212 hrs according to altells specs for the Q). What I get is closer to 20 hrs.
So, I was just wondering what is average. If your phone is just sitting on the desk/bed table/ect, turned on, not plugged in, not being used for anything, how long does a charge last you? Using the standard battery that came with the phone.
This isn't a rant, I am really interested to see what others get.

Thanks
Chuck

Not sure, I can never let my Q sit that long (I get itchy). Although I have a new RAZR2 V9m sitting unused by my PC (a gift from an anonymous benefactor) it seems to draw power at a similar rate to my Q, It will get about 4 days if unused.
Do you have any email accounts set up with an automatic send/ recieve? also the signal strength, bluetooth radio, and IR will affect the battery life.

Thanks for replying. I have very poor signal strenght (1 bar) here, and that may be a factor. I've taken great care to turn everything else off.

The reason I'm playing with this is that I'll be travelling by train for 2 weeks in May/June. At one point I'll be on the train for 48 hrs, a 3 hr break, and back on for 12 hrs. I have a travel charger (there are electrical outlets in my sleeping compartmemnt) and a mobile charger, so I think I should be ok.

You've definately gone in the right direction to prepare for a long trip, also it may help (if you're not planning on using the phone on the train) to turn the phone portion off as well.

I hadn't thought of that. Is there a way to trun of the phone portion and still use the PDA part? I haven't been able to find it.

Hold down the home key for a few seconds, this will bring up the wireless manager. then highlight phone and select to turn the radio off. Do the same thing to turn it back on again.

Thank you. That's a great feature I can use. I am in and out of medical facilities where cell phones must be off. Now I can use my PDA without the phone.
Thanks
Chuck
