Default So what do we do next?

Motorola may exit the Handheld Business. And just when I finally found a phone I really like.

Their sales on cell phones is way down, again. They keep loosing money @ it. Maybe they need different ppl at the helm instead of some old geezer who forgets to zip his pants after he leaves the bathroom. Let's hope something shakes the tree, anyway! No Q? No way!!

I bet the hacked/chopped/crippled carrier version of the OS doesn't help things much

Apparently the "announcement" of the genghis didn't help as much as was hoped. Still, I have hope for new Qs.

Damn... I seriously don't know what I would do. I love motorola as a brand. I've had nothing but good luck with them.

I have seen Siemens and Samsungs and I do not like them. You would have thought the popularity of the RAZR alone would have been a boon.

I would have to start looking at Blackberry and PocketPC seriously if Moto stopped making handsets.

I love Motorola beyond the Q. This is crappy news.

I hope Moto stays. I've never seen a Motorola phone I didn't like, hence why all my mobiles have had the famous M on them. But with these numbers Gizmodo has compiled, we can only sit and wait:
Quote:
When your company earnings nose dive 84% in the fourth quarter and you issue a warning that the recovery will take longer than expected, It is not all that surprising that the reaction on Wall Street will be swift and brutal. To put that into perspective, Motorola's net income amounted to 4 cents per share, which was down from $623 million, or 25 cents per share a year earlier. Sales also fell from $11.79 billion to $9.65 billion. If that wasn't enough, Motorola's global market share is down 13 percent from 23 percent at the end of 2006—and it hasn't bottomed out yet.
As mentioned back in October, the most serious losses have come from their handset division. Sales have sunk 38 percent to $4.8 billion during the quarter, with a total operating loss of $388 million. The total damage tops out at $4.9 million compared to a $3.67 billion profit in 2006. Not to worry though, Motrorola execs said that innovative new devices would help turn things around. Duh! During morning trading Motorola shares plunged $1.96, or 15.9 percent, to a nearly four-year low of $10.36.
Hell, they basically invented the portable cell phone. Why would they leave with a legacy like that?
