PC reboots when Q plugged in

Hello All,
I'm a fairly new user. Whenever my Q is plugged into my computer, the computer will unexpectedly reboot after a few minutes. Has this happened to anyone? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep this from happening. It really limits me being able to synch, and install software on my Q.

Here are my computer specs-
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2 x 512 mb memory
2 x 160 gig hard drives
gigabyte motherboard (I don't know which model right off, and I can't look right now b/c I'm at work.)

Any help would be appreciated.

On your PC. Start>run>msconfig Go to the startup tab and uncheck all the items. Reboot. See if this helps.
