My New Q is REALLY REALLY slow? Why?

Just received a Q as the insurance company's replacement for a treo 650 (verizon). two major problems so far, and i'd be grateful for your assistance:
1 - the Q is astonishingly slow! i can't move from application to application or even browse my address book. i wonder if it's because i have too many entries or too much data somewhere. the Microsoft windows thing says i'm only using about 60 percent of available memory. But i do have 8000 contacts (about 2/3 of which are duplicates).
2 - is there a simple way to sync with a mac? the processes described here far outstrip my ability to manipulate a computer.

Could anyone who's read this far tell me also:
- how do i eliminate the duplicate entries in my address book?
- how do i delete whole blocks of email?
- why does the Q never seem to completely sync with verizon's wireless sync even if i leave it going overnight?
- why can't i read the screen outdoors in daylight?
- Can any of my palm software (like vindigo) be used on the Windows based Q?

1st thing....You have to kill apps on your Q (which we all have agreed sucks "stuff") by using Task Manager in the Start menu.

The duplicate entries can be eliminated by setting your preferences in activesync to have your PC override your Q's information.

You will need a program called inbox extender to delete multiple emails at a time.

You probably can't read through a glass window with sun shining on it either

Your palm software won't work. Its made for Palm OS. The Q uses WM5, a different OS. Therefore they are different and won't work.
