Default Internet not releasing after data send/receive

Here is my issue...

When I send an email or surf the net, the data link does not disengage when I am finished sending or receiving. I have to turn the phone off and on to get it to release. I called VZW, "it should release in a few minute or two if the connection is not used." Yeah? It's not! LOL.

Ideas?

I have the same concern. Am I wasting minutes?

Its been almost 10 minutes after killing the browser and I still have a data connection going....

Mine also does this....and it takes a good hour or so before the connection is closed.....turning the Q off sucks, but its the only way I have been able to get around this

I'm on my 4th or 5th Q, I lost count, but my current one stops transmitting once I close the browser. One of my former Q's didnt though and the trick is to hold down the home key to open the wireless manager. Once opened go to B-wireless manager, go down to phone and click it once. This will put the phone into flight mode. I used to wait 1 or 2 seconds then just turn it back on. This kills all connectivity then u simply turn it back on and ur good to go. no more 30+ second restarts.

If your worried about using you min, call your provider. My Q does the same thing. But I have an unlimited data pack. My provider does not charge any min four data usage. They treat is like two sepperate buckets of time.

Are you using OMA? I have noticed is that using OMA seems to make the phone keep a data connection going longer, I do get alot of mail from the office and I am configure to sync my calendar, tasks and contacts as well via OMA. I think part of it is becasue the receptionist is schedualing me for meetings or adding/modifing my contacts when I am out. When I delete the OMA settings the data connections seem to drop alot quicker.

I can still recieve calls and the phone works in all other respects so I have not been to worried about it.

Default same problem

i have the same problem with mine...(i'm on my 4th or 5th Q aswell mletang, wonder how many more in the same boat as us)...but anyway, i use my Q with PDANet to get internet on my laptop while in the car or at work or wahtever, but whenever i'm done, i have to restart the phone to be able to make calls again.

but the flight mode option is actually a good alternative to turning the phone off and back on, thanks!

That's a good question, I will have to look at my Q when it is doing this and see.

After watching mine for a few days. The mem usage is a bit higher when the data connection is running then when it is not. Need to check into this some more.
