I'm yet to learn all the perks of WM6S, but as far as Vista goes its pretty phail IMO. Eats too much ram and doesn't have anything thats worth the while. XP with classic shell ftw!

It's better than reading all those moronic posts about problems with their Q9C and they just keep swapping and resetting.

Here's why I think WinMo devices ultimately, when all said and done, fail in some way shape or form.

I've used a Sprint PPC-6700(winmo pro/touchscreen) for over 2 years, a Blackberry (various models) for over 2 years and now the Moto Q9h (for about 2 weeks)..

In both WinMo phones I've used, I can feel MS's hand in the phone.. MS doesn't make the hardware.. so all the faults/bugs are because MS makes a blanket WinMo OS and the vendors tweak it to their hardware..

not once ever have I seen a BB freeze because of the OS/hardware.. or the slow scrolling, or lockups, etc.. this happens all the time on WinMo devices. It's as if I am dealing with the same crap I deal with on a PC.. freezes, bsods, etc..

Both my 6700 and Moto Q9h has frozen/locked up, slowed down to a crawl, very slow scrolling then all of the sudden gets turbo'd, reboots randomly.. this has happened on both WinMo devices. Not once on any of my BB's..

The day MS actually becomes first party to the hardware and is able to put the OS on it.. that's the day I see them becoming a huge player in their field against the Blackberry market.. until then.. we gotta deal with MS making the OS, releasing it to the hardware vendors who tweak to their hardware, then the devices gets in the carriers hands which tweak more..

I dont think Windows Mobile is doomed or needs to be abandoned.. but I think Microsoft needs to start producing their OWN hardware..

The reason your BB never failed is because you don't have much 3rd party software you can customize it with.

Straight out of the box, both devices would be reliable.

Windows Mobile is just more complicated because it is a multitasking OS. You need to shut down applications and keep your eye on the memory usage.

The thing that screws up this phone is also what tinkerers and techies like about it. With all the 3rd party software you can play with and personalize to your liking, it is more than just a phone. It's a challenge. Like somebody on here always says 'it's not for everyone'.

Let's be realistic, even if Microsoft bought Motorola and AT&T. They would still be separate divisions or departments at the least. That doesn't mean the 3 would collaborate on a single project.

I just feel Microsoft is going the same route with WinMo that they are with Windows..

keeping all the compatibility code in there, creating bloat and slowness.. it's such a power hungry OS that battery life suffers..

I just cant wait for WinMo 7!! Anyone seen pics of it?

If you indeed truly believe the smartphone is dead, then I'm sure you bought into Bill Gates' axim that 640K was all you'd ever need. :-) Hehehehehehe . . .
