As I've been researching this device some of the specs are challanged depending on the source. It may be microSD only and thirdparty voice dialing software rather than voice command. Everything else seems to checkout. Another note, since CE6 is just around the corner it might be better to wait for ultrathin CE6 phone edition devices to emerge. It's a good time to be a gadget lover!!!

The Q I wish I had bought? Nope. I will have been using my Q for 6+ months by the time this is released and it will probably cost twice what my Q did.

You keep waiting and I will happily email away and watch movies on my Q while you wait.

There is no question devices will continue to advance. I need one now, not next week.

Last I checked, the iMate wasn't available on Sprint, Verizon, Cingular or T-Mobile.

Plus, I would question the battery life with built-in WiFi.

I agree, one could wait forever to get the perfect device and then six months later wish they had purchased the new thing that was just announced.

I posted this for the benefit of those who are not happy with their Q's limited set of PDA features. The i-mate JAQ3 is available now for about $400 as an unlocked device and it has most if not all the features I've read so many others griping about. If on the on the otherhand you're one of those who love your Q the way it is, I'm happy that you're happy.

One of the wonderful parts of living in a free nation is the freedom of choice we enjoy. This post is intended to offer information about about an alternative choice so that people who are unhappy with the Q can have their needs met and be happy and have no need to fill our posts with their complaints.

The JAQ3 has touch screen, full version WM 5, full version MS Office Mobile, Outlook Notes Syncronization, cut and paste ability, compatibility with the whole WM5 software library, and a long battery life (Chris, just turn wi-fi off). It just seems that this is what the Q could and should have been. I still love the Q as a phone but I have high hopes for its future as a PDA too.

Not really. If I wanted a PPC device I wouldn't have purchased a Q. I replaced a PPC with it.

The fact that you love your Q is a good thing and is alot nicer to hear about than another complaint about it's shortcomings.

@robbym,

Don't get me wrong, I understand your intent. However, what people are vewing as the "Q's limitations" are not that at all. The Q runs the WM Smartphone OS. All WM Smarthpones have the same software features. It's not a PPC so calling it deficient because it can't do what a PPC can is like calling a Moto Razr deficient because it doesn't have Ouotlook or Interent Explorer on it.

Many of us chose the Q because we don't want a touch screen. The JAQ3 is a nice looking device, but I still wouldn't consider one because of the touch screen/stylus. Just know what you're getting before you get it. And, know what is a fair comparison before saying it doesn't measure up.

Agreed! Everything you have said is intelligent and right on the mark for those of us who know better. Unfortunately, not everyone is as tech savy as you and I. For someone completely new to mobile computing, WM Smartphone looks identical to WM Phone Edition and both are often simply called WM 5.

Who else is going to look out for the less experienced, or worse, the completely inexperienced and quite possibly confused new user who is dependant on the salesperson who probably doesn't know the differences between the phone versions of WM 5 either? Hell, when I first went to check one out the sales guy at Bell told me it runs on Windows. Go figure?

I would much rather have the Q than that. The Q is a phone first, other crap second. My friends have had terrible experiences with their Pocket PC phones, but every one of them that bought a Q loves it. The only thing I could think of that I would like more than the Q would be a BlackBerry Pearl, and I don't see that getting released for Verizon any time soon.
