Default Idiotic

It would be idiotic to ship a device without the backlight installed. Since installed, there's a high liklihood that it can be activated if the vendor has deactivated it by policy. (For whatever whacked-out reasons...) There are registry hacks to do PLENTY of things the vendor has disabled, and a keyboard backlight would be one.

The Q is awesome - my light works, has since I put the battery in 90 seconds after UPS gave it to me at the door Monday! If you are waiting to hear from this forum regarding a backlight - I say go4it! You are going to love this device. (GAWD I sound like such a FANBOY...) blech-h-h-h

That didn't work for me... could they have sent me a defective one? I just got my moto q a few weeks ago from Sprint...

try turning off the "Smart Backlight" which is not very smart. Go to settings, power management, at the bottom it says Smart Backlight. Change it from enable to disable. that should fix your problem

Thanks, but I actually had a defective Q. I still had it under Motorola's one year warranty though, so I shipped it out to TX and they got it back to me pretty quickly. So my Q is nice and lit now, but the week without it was kinda rough... Oh well, I guess that's just how it goes sometimes.
