Default Perfect...

I've been debating this forever because I think CDMA brands (VZW and Sprint) suck when it comes to traveling, but this looks great. I now have no need to switch over to AT&T. This phone is a Q9h on steroids- it looks like a winner, assuming VZW brings it to market without killing a bunch of the features.

This phone sounds perfect!

I really like the fit and finish of the device. Looks like they dispensed with the dedicated email, web soft buttons for a larger call/hang-up buttons. Also looks like it might be more tactile than the current version. Overall, the device looks real nice. BGR said the keys were stiffer. That could simply be a pre-production model. It doesn't seem like they strayed too far from the original 9h keyboard.

The top of this phone looks like the Moto QX Ghengis --- more boxy and less curved. The Q9 Naopleon definitely trumps it design wise. The blue looks very slick.

Default Agreed.

Maybe I'm just not "cool" anymore, but I never care about what the phone looks like, as far as colors/ accents. I do care about the form factor, for ease of use, pocketability, etc, but I don't care about the color as long as it's neutral.

I always look at the functionality. This phone has all of the function I was going to go to AT&T 9H for. No need to do that- good thing I have a year for upgrade, and it should be out by then. I do hope I can convince VZW to unlock it so that I can use a foreign SIM (in South America), but other than that- it's bad ass. Definitely will be my next new phone.

Until then, I'll enjoy my VZW Q9C.

ehhhhhhhhhhhh.....

I'm not impressed... I think I will wait for the next generation of Q devices with WM7 (or whatever version windows mobile is at at that point)

I find BGR's comments about the keyboard very disturbing.... if the keyboard sucks... what's the point? being able to type on the damn thing is a pretty big deal in my book. On top of that, forget fingerprint scanners and fluff like that... I wanna know if they've increased the onboard memory or the processor so that I can run more things at the same time.

My theory is that this is just a Verizon bid to compete with ATT's Moto Q9H, in an attempt to win over some of that business traveler market. Seeing as I can count the number of times I travel on my hand every year, I don't see this as being very useful to me at all.

either way it does look pretty slick, but all it does is make me want the next-gen Q's more. Although if you compare this "Napolean" to the promo shots that were gotten off Youtube of Moto's "Genghis" ... you'll see that the keyboards are similar.

No reason you can't have both. Pretty tends to add to functionality in my opinion. Slim designs with brushed metal or rubberized accents on the back and edges make the phone fit in your pocket, take the abuse of daily use well, AND look good.

Default Verizon WILL mess it up

I'm sure Verizon will find some way to mess this thing up. They always do. They've never offered a smartphone with WiFi. Therefore, you can bet Wifi and the domestic GSM radio will get ripped out.

What I'm wondering is will Moto sell this thing unlocked with all the goodies still in tacked.

I also wonder if Moto will tweak it a little, maybe take out the CDMA radio and add more memory and 3G support for AT&T. The AT&T version would certainly maintain the WiFi.

Those are PocketPCs. I'm talking about devices on the Windows Mobile Standard (formerly known as Smartphone) platform Q, pantec, Q9c, SMT5800, etc. None of THESE devices have WiFi. In fact, the GSM Version of the SMT5800 does have WiFi! HTC didn't add it our took it out of the CDMA version.

To be fair, they are just starting to come out with WiFi on domestic GSM. But, if I know Verizon...

Default ...

I have a hard time believing the manufacturer is going to leak a device with the carrier branding all over it, get everyone excited for the features, and then VZW lock it down, but stranger things have happened. Let me rephrase my excitement- if this phone is released with everything discussed thus far, I'll be super stoked. I think it's stupid that they'd take the Wi-Fi out because even if it has Wi-Fi, I still think most people (not all) would go with the data plan- STILL. I know I would- you don't have Wi-Fi everywhere.
