I still think the jury should be out on this one. No one else has heard about it and BGR are being very scarce with additional information.

Why would AT&T use Cingular AND spell it wrong?

Maybe it's a very early build as some have suggested but the review models of the Q9h seemed to make sure they were labeled AT&T, what happened here?

I could be wrong, but something's not right. No disrepect to BGR, maybe someone is trying to pull a fast one on them?

I agree with you. There's something very weird about all of this. I know for sure that there's no photoshopping involved, I just wish BGR would debrief us all on where it came from etc.

I'll still be keeping my hopes up nonetheless.

As will I. BGR really needs to update everyone on the details of where this phone came from. A video would be nice.

i have very limited knowledge of this (one reason being i live in Canada), but i did read this in the comments section of engadget's article regarding BGR's article.....

Actually it's been a glitch in AT&T's tower ID tag for a while now. If you are around nyc, every so often, when switching from 3G to E, you will see a temporary tag that says "Cigular Wireless", then suddenly switch to say "AT&T".

Maybe Johnny, but no one else is reporting this. Why weren't there any screenshots with it showing AT&T since the photos show it is on 3G?

No disrespect to BGR, but they could squash this debate very quickly and easily by simply posting more pictures or some video footage.

He's got a video walk-through of 6.1 on the Moto Q 9h. According to the postscript, he claims that it does not have AT&T software and makes no claims that AT&T will get a WiFi enabled Q9h.

It does seem odd to me that AT&T would release an upgrade to the Q9h weeks after the initial launch. It's probably an early testing unit. Let's face it. We've got 6.1 and WiFi that needs thorough testing before a commercial release. My bet is 6 months and then we can have yet another name for the Q....the Moto Q 9hw.

Personally, I think WiFi is overrated, but that's my opinion. If I'm in a WiFi zone, I'd just assume use my laptop or I'm on my desktop computer. Same goes for GPS. Is it nice? Yes. Is it something I'll use? Probably not, as I just picked up a Garmin GPS for that purpose.

This what BGR is saying now:
P.S. For anyone thinking on holding off on an AT&T Q9 because of the Wi-Fi version coming, remember that this device is running a non-AT&T OS, and although it is AT&T-branded hardware, it doesn't mean AT&T has actually picked it up, nor do we have any launch indication or supposed release timeframe.

Still brings up more questions than it answers about the phone. I agree, if true, it will probably ship later rather than sooner (so anyone holding off on the Q9h might want to rethink waiting), but they've only raised the questions of where this phone came from: a legitimate source or the cell phone fairy?

It always surprises me to see how many "pre-release" Motorola Q phones crop up on the web well before release. I cannot even get one when they are released and I run a fairly large Moto Q site. For me, it's Craigslist, eBay or bust.

Having a WiFi enabled Q9h pop-up on the web certainly isn't good for current sales.

As for 6.1, I hope they offer us an upgrade. It looks pretty slick.
