Exclamation Windows Mobile Device via Bluetooh

Here is my problem. I can connect my Q to my Vista Laptop using USB and everything is fine. I can connect the Q to my XP machine via Bluetooth or USB and everything is fine.

When I take my USB Bluetooth dongle and place it on the Vista, I get the option to select to use BT to connect to my device, it fails. I can see my Vista PC from the Q and set up paring etc., but not Vista's "Active Sync aka Windows Mobile Device".

Have you done a windows update lately? There is an update for WMDC (Mobile device center) that you should download. This might be the bug fix that you speak of.

The update does not fix the problem. I have been looking all over the Internet and I have yet to find anyone who has been successful in getting this to work. It looks like the issue is the Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator only creates a standard Serial connection but Windows Mobile Device Center will not list the port unless it is an Active Sync serial port. So you can't even selet the newly created serial port. Thank you Microsoft.

I have actually tried with two other WM5 devices and none will sync via Bluetooth and all sync via USB. All also sync with Bluetooth on my XP Laptop no problem and I am using the exact same Belkin Bluetooth dongle and drive vesion on both the Vista and XP boxes.

Afte some research, I found that there is definately a bug in Vista. I found this (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...eshooting.mspx) go down to "The Motorola Q phone cannot...." and try what they tell you. I tried, but it didn't work either. It looks like the Microsoft Bluetooth stack does not have an ActiveSync service.

Im just gonna cut and paste what I jsut wrote in another thread: BTW from what i gather you are looking to sync via BT?

"Lets not spread misinformation for people searching for info on this.. Im on vista.. and I can sync via BT. Set your Q up to be paired with your PC via BT... and you should also sync your Q to your PC via cable at least once so the connection to your Q is recognized... then in Windows Mobile Device Center click:

Mobile Device Settings--> Connections Settings --> Click the check next to "allow connections to one of the following" ... it may have "bluetooth" chosen... do not use that setting! Instead change it to COM7. Check mark "allow automatic device authentication".

In your Q, Activate Bluetooth, then go to ActiveAync, click Menu, Connect Via Bluetooth.. should have your PC name listed, select it.. should sync."
