Default Why use Bluetooth Synch?

Does anyone know of an advantage to using Bluetooth Synch? If so, I'd like to hear about it.

I have a bluetooth card in my laptop but I still find it easier to use the supplied USB cable to perform synchs.

I know that bluetooth is wireless but it is NOT automated and requires the folliwing steps each time you wish to synch:
  • Press Start
  • Select ActiveSync
  • Press Menu
  • Select Connect to Bluetooth
  • Press Connect
What a pain. I find it a heck of a lot quicker to simply plug in the Q. I mean, once I physically pull it out of my pocket, it's alot easier to plug it in than it is to push all those bottons ... especially if the phone is locked. Plus ... it charges!

Why did I spend $50 on this bluetooth PCMIA card again?

The only advantages to syncing via bluetooth are 1) no need for a cable and 2) distance (your mileage may vary). Other than that, you are correct, it is easier to sync with the cable (plus the cable charges it at the same time).

The bluetooth feature is probably more usefull as a wireless modem, especially in harsh environments (Q can stay in your beach-bag @ the beach rather than exposing it to sun/sand... also much easier to deal with in a car rather than having cords everywhere.)

All great comments regarding bluetooth functionality in general (headsets, cars, modems) but the question still remains:

Why use bluetooth SYNC?

Why buy a PCMCIA BT card? Your question has already been answered. If you see no benefit, you certainly don't need to use it. It's great to have choices.
