Default Who needs bluetooth?

Instead of spending 100 dollars on a bluetooth receiver, I thought I'd go to radioshack and buy an adapter so that i'd be able to plug the aux input from my car stereo into my q9m. This way, or so I thought, the person talking would be heard through the cars speakers and i'd be able to talk back if the q continued using the built in mic. The problem is that when you plug something into the headphone/headset jack on the q, it disables the built in mic because it assumes you're plugging in a wired headset (which has a mic) and not headphones/auxilary lines. Does anybody know if it's possible to keep the phone from disabling the mic when something is plugged into it? is there something in the registry?

other than not being able to speak, plugging the phone in does work in that you hear the voice through the car speakers. this is only good for voicemail though if you can't talk back!

this could be a big money saver considering most head units already have an auxilary in and the adapter at radioshack was only 10 dollars.... that's much less than a 100 + dollar bluetooth adapter!

http://www.everythingq.com/forum/blu...cars-2902.html

besides...who said you have to spend 100 bucks on a BT headset...you can get them for 40 or 50 bucks

or spend 10 bucks on a wired headset

for future reference just bump your other thread/topic/post

sorry, i guess i posted again because it didn't seem like anybody was responding to the last one. looks like my plan worked since you responded within ten minutes!

anyway, that's still 40-50 dollars I don't need to spend if my phone can almost do the same thing without a bluetooth adapter. if it's not possible it's not possible, but i figured it was worth a shot. i'm a poor college student so i don't have much money to spend on luxuries like not having to hold your phone to your face while driving...

the wired headset sort of defeats the purpose because i'm interested in plugging the phone into the car stereo, both so that i can listen to music with the phone and have the phone pause the music when someone calls and all that good stuff you get with a bluetooth adapter, only for a bit less money. Also, i often drive across the state which takes about 6 hours, and i'd imagine using bluetooth to stream music and take calls would drain the battery pretty quick when used for that amount of time...

edit** also i wasn't looking for a headset, the pioneer bluetooth adapter is 100 dollars or more (for the car stereo)

I was thinking of buying a cheap bluetooth earpiece, dismantling it and connecting a auxilary jack to the speaker wires on the earpiece and plugging that into the car stereo. You can listen to music and have the the music cut out when a phone call comes in.
The microphone on the phone would be good enough to pick up your voice from the console of the car.
Any reason that wouldn't work?
An alternative is to find a bluetooth adapter that is for the car stereo aux. jack...

you would have to disconnect the headset before every call. And the speaker level signal of the headset may not be enough to match the line level signal the aux input is looking for without using a preamp.
