Plantronics 521 is not really a Plantronics - Motorola Q Forum

I just ordered at Plantronics 520 from N1Wireless.com. Of course, when it came, it was not a 520, but a "Plantronics 521." It looks exactly like a 520, but it apparently isn't one.

I contacted Plantronics because I was having trouble pairing it with my Q9c, and the tech at Plantronics said that its not their product (even though it has Plantronics written across the entire earloop). The tech said its made for AT&T by a company called Avaya, and if I needed help with it, to call Avaya (and he gave me the phone number).

It seems to work fine, so I'll probably stick with it, but just thought people should know in case they get one of these and think Plantronics will stand behind it.

there was talk about the 521 a while ago and I was wondering about it... thanks for sharing. does it look the same (if you know)

It looks just like the 520, even says "Plantronics" on it. From what I know, its the same color, etc... It came with a wall charger, and I remember someone saying that the 520 comes with a desktop charger. Anyway all the features seem to work fine. Also, I believe the 520 comes with multiple ear pieces, this one only came with a built in rubberized earpiece, which doesn't appear removable/adjustable. Not sure about that, haven't really tried to take it off (I just got the thing today), but it doesn't appear removable.

yes the 520 has a (silly) little desktop cradle looking thing.. and no, the 520 only has one earpiece that does not comes off (okay it might, but it is not suppose to :}

Good, I thought I might've gotten ripped off on the earpieces. Nice to know that the 520 doesn't come with any either. I'll let you know if the 521 has any issues, I know there was at least one other post out there where someone ordered a 520 off the 'net, and was sent a 521 as well. It even says "Plantronics" on the box, which I think is very misleading, especially when you contact cust. svc, and they say to call someone else!

It is, I guess, the ATT version, but its working just fine with my Verizon Q9c, no issues. Don't know why ATT would need its own version, expecially if it works with other carriers. Its not the most comfortable thing I've ever stuck in my ear (don't ask), but whatever.

I just got my 521 from Thriftycomputers.com and I was confused as to why it said 521 instead of 520, so I went onto AT&T's website and found a little line of text on the headset's product page saying that it is exactly the same except for the color scheme and that it does not come with the desktop charger.
