| NJ Cellphone Enforcement BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The NJ Cellular Phone Enforcement Law will be enforced starting on this Saturday March 1st! Any Law Enforcement Agency in the State of NJ can now pull you over just having the phone in your hand, up to your ear, or using the phone. A conviction or guilty plea to this offense will be considered as a conviction /plea for "unsafe driving". While this is a no-point violation, it carries a $250.00 surcharge meaning that this ticket will cost anywhere from $380.00 - $439.00 for the first offense !!!!!!!!!! |

| As a side note, they have been warning us with the electronic signs that are posted on the NJ Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, Atlantic City Expressway, I-295 and the other major arteries for weeks now. I'm glad I'll be away this weekend. We'll wind up paying for all the overtime, just so the Governor can say how many lives were saved and this was a success. And yes, I do have a bluetooth speaker for my Q, which I've had for over 8 months now. |

| I went to NYC today and made a side trip to East Orange, and the Troopers were all over the place. Even in places that I haven't seen them sitting/hiding in for years, they were there! In their brand new unmarked Crown Vic's, Durangos and Chargers.
I think they have been reallocating their resources to the heavy commuter areas such as the NYC/North Jersey, Trenton/Princeton and Philly/South Jersey/Atlantic City Corridors. Enforcement in these areas alone should bring in tens of thousands of dollars a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Here in CT they started that like 2 years ago. It really isnt too bad because I always use bluetooth anyway. Here its $100 for the first offense, and if you bring a receipt for a headset to court they'll throw out the fine. The funniest thing though is that I swear every cop I dive by is talking on their phone.

| California will have a hands free law this July. But our fine will only be $25 for the first and $50 for each additional. |

| Massachusetts has been trying to implement that for a while. For now, they lumped it into their existing "Distracted Driver" laws. Meaning, if you're swerving and talking on a Cell, you can get pulled over. No idea on the fine, though.
