Question Newbie needs help

Hi all, I’m new to this Smartphone world and have many questions…….but let me start with this. My Q (carrier: Verizon) is only three days old so I assume it has all the latest software updates. I have the GPS receiver from MS Streets & Trips and the Pharos iGPS-BT II Bluetooth cradle. I’m trying to pair the Bluetooth and my phone. When I search the phone finds the device, but I can not get them to pair. A window pops up saying; there is no service for this device. What am I missing to make this work? Can anyone give me some help? Thanks

Does it attempt a password or does that pop up before it says enter your password? The password is not default 0000 it is 12345678.

You also need to know which COM port your Q is default broadcasting. And you need to make sure that you are looking for it in Personal Network.

It says for PPC but the steps should be fairly similar for WM5 for Smartphone.
Just go in like you would in BT Mangaer

Thanks for the help. I got it working. I did get pass the entering of the pass key, that’s when I got the pop-up. I witched from using Google maps to Windows Live Search. In WLS in set-up I was able to select the port for the BT GPS. After that it worked. Now I’m looking for software that will give me turn by turn voice instructions, that is inexpensive or better yet…..free.

Default Same problem

I even got a new phone because I thought it was the phone that was busted. I tried to pair the same exact Pharos iGPS BT II and it says:
Personal Network

Service Can Not Be Found

The service you are requesting is not supported on the device. Please make sure the device is ready and the service is enabled.

I get no passcode request.

Basically I turn on the GPS and it is flashing, then I go into the Q into BT Manager and I actually see the GPS, in fact I sometimes even see a little pop-up of what looks to be a MAC address or HEX code if I press right or left on the middle nav button. Am I supposed to download a service and install it? I have Windows Live Search installed but that didn't help. Any other suggestions?

I had no problem after loading Windows Live Search. Sorry I can't help. Actually I purchased Copilot on eBay, because I wanted text to voice instructions. I used that for several months before giving up and buying a Garmin Nuvi 350. Copilot started to cause my phone to lock-up, and it always happened when I really needed the nav. Good Luck.
