Default Has anyone gotten the Holux M1000 GPS to work with the Q?

I can pair it, but I can't get it to work in Windows Live Search or Google Maps. Has anyone done this?

I tried out the GPS with my laptop, but it works there. Any ideas?

I wouldn't have posted the question if I didn't already search first. I have read a number of posts on "How" to use a bluetooth GPS device with the Q. It doesn't work for me.

I wanted to know if any had a Holux M1000 that was able to get it working.

No, apparently the "Advanced Network" checkbox that was unchecked to synch with windows needed to be re-checked.

It was that simple.

Hey, jonnylblue,

I have a Q and just ordered a Holux M1000, myself, but haven't received it yet. Could you elaborate more on the setup? I plan on using Google Maps. Where did you see the "Advanced Network" checkbox?

Thanks in Advance.

You enable "Advanced Network" in Settings - Connections. This will prevent a sync with your computer until you change it back.

Then go to Bluetooth manager / settings click [Menu] and select "Paired Devices".

Click [Menu] and select "Add".

Enter "0000" as the password and Voila.

This works well with Google Maps, however to use it actively on a map, it will be constantly polling the internet for the maps. In my experience it works well. Buy if you lose you internet connection, the map goes blank until it can download again.

I've tried Mapopolis and it is a HORROR. It rarely connects to the GPS. It's basically worthless.

Thanks for the quick response, I'll try it out. Between my wife and I, we now have 4 PDAs / smartphones. She has a Treo 680, I have the Mot Q, Palm T/X, and an iPAQ rx3100.

I may choose to install some software on one of the PDAs, like Tomtom Navigator, rather than depend on a live internet connection when we're driving. Any recommendations? Have you tried any installable Maps/Software?

I just received my Holux 1000 this morning. I didn't have to check the Advanced check box, but that might have made it easier. I wound up going deep into the BT manager to Paired devices and adding it from there. That worked for me. Google Maps required me to install GPSCOM.exe MS livesearch worked on it's own.
