Need Help Freedom GPS Keychain - Help...

I ordered one of these and received it today. I am having trouble getting it to work.

To pair it, I had to go to Bluetooth Manager -> Settings -> Menu -> Paired Devices -> Add

I then entered the passkey, 1234, and it now shows in my Paired Devices with a question mark on the icon, but does not show in my Connections.

I have tried Windows Live Search (WLS) with every com port and could not get it to work. I also tried Maps4PDA because it can search the com ports, but its search came up with nothing.

Has anyone had any luck getting this to work, and if so, please post the necessary steps.

Thanks in advance.

As I stated in our PM's, sounds exactly like what my device acted like when the unit went bad. My Mini-Freedom GPS worked perfect for 2 weeks and then just went south. Had power, would pair up fine, but was never available to any applications. I confirmed this on my phone, a Palm T2, and my laptop before returning it for an exchange.

I tried it on my PC and that did not work either, so I emailed the the everythingQ store for an RMA. We'll see if that does the trick.

I also hav the Freedom Key Chain GPS, and for days i had the same problem, but after reading threw a ton of fourms and threads i found a fix, you need to d/l this thing called " gpscom.exe" Pair up your Q with the gps, after that run the .exe on your Q and change the "Selected com port" to com1, then restart your q. After i did that the gps works with google maps, windows live, and map4pda, thoes are the only apps i have used so far but no need to test more, hope that helpes...

The version of GoogleMaps I have (1.2.0.18) lets me select the com port. Is GPScom.exe still necessary?

It appears to communicate on Com 1, because it does not give me a "no GPS found" error message like on most of the other com ports I try. It just seems like the communication is one way.

I tried setting it up with my PC and I had the same issues. The PC assigned it to Com 40. When I set the program I used to Com 40 I would have the same problem. It did not say the device was not there, it would just not communicate with it.

GPScom.exe is only for use with the older Google maps app that wouldn't allow you to select the com port.

im not positive of what versions i have of google maps or windows live, the only thing that worked for me was the gpscom.exe, i think the factory setting on my Q was set for outbound com9, after i changed it to com1 i have had no issues at all, i dont know if that has anything to do with me having a Sprint Q

just a guess, but you might want to check your settings/connections/usb to pc settings and make sure that advance network is checked. i have problems with bluetooth whenever advance network is shut down
