I was thinking about getting one of these what does everyone think of it? It seems like a great add on but I have seen a few posts about it not working properly or breaking in a short period of time....Anyone????
I just got one about a week ago, the new smaller design and love it! Works extremely well on my OQ.
Gets satellite info fast and held it as I walked through a 2 story building. Holds a charge for a long time too. So far I've used it with Google Maps and Live Search and both performed very well (and accurate). I was surprised to find out that Live Search alerted me with a beep when I was approaching my next turn, added bonus there. Some people might not like the North Up display but it's not that hard to turn your phone lol. (Not the fault of the GPS, but the software).
I got mine for the size. I have a Garmin Nuvi I use in the vehicle so I got this as more of a 'always have it with you' kind of thing. Since I always have my keys and phone with me, I always have Navigation and POI contact info at my fingertips. It charges with a standard USB cable so very rarely am I in a situation where I can't charge it when needed., although I've only had to charge it once so far.
2 thumbs up here.
By the way, in case anyone is wondering if I did a side by side comparison with the Nuvi. They were both spot on, only real difference as far as the map/location went is the size of the screen. The Nuvi is easier and more powerful of course.
I got this over the weekend, and I have had nothing but trouble so far trying to get it work on my Q through Verizon. I can only pair it by going through Paired Devices in Settings, and even then I still cannot get it to work with Google Maps. I've already tried using GPSCOM.exe which was mentioned in another thread to no avail. Perhaps I got a bad unit, but I'm going to wait until I hear back from Freedom Input before I send it back.
I think the default port it uses is Com 1, make sure you set that in Google Maps or it won't work.
