But don't bother now, unless you're firmware on your phone is really out-of-date, the newer ones block you from connecting anyway. Lousy Verizon b***ards.

What is the process for the Sprint Q?? I'd like to tether it to my Nokia N800 when WiFi isn't available. Obviously I tried the suggestions for vzw, but the dial code doesn't work : (

  1. Install the CAB file
  2. Reboot your Q
  3. Dial ##342587 and hit Send
  4. Set the dialup option to Enabled and hit Exit
  5. Do a happy dance
After you go through this process, you should be able to pair your phone to your laptop again and it should automatically install a "Standard Modem over Bluetooth". Just create a Dial-up connection using this modem with a phone number of #777. No username or password is necessary.

Read the thread... this will not work anymore.

PDANet is the best solution, as long as you are using Windows and ActiveSync.

is there any "free" way of doing this? I don't want to purchase PDANet because I can connect just fine via the USB cable. I just thought it would be cool to connect through bluetooth and see if there was a significant speed different between USB and bluetooth. plus the idea of connecting everything wirelessly just sounds sweet. any suggestions?

Default How do you install it?

Stupid question, but how do you "install" the cab file? There's a single XML file in there, but what do you do with it?
Pardon my ignorance.

you install a cab file by putting the file on your Q via active sync then click on it in file manager on the Q and it will install

PDANet works perfectly for Sprint via USB (on my PC). However, I'm trying to get my palm TX to use the dialup via BT to my Moto Q, but no dice...it just sits there and stares at me. Anyone have a clue about this one?

The post is 1 year old. I am wondering if PDANet is still working on Verizon. If VZW is charging $15/month for the tethering plan, why won't they try to stop you from using 3rd party software to bypass the tethering charge? Thanks.
