Default bluetooth verizon only?

i have a q9m and i always want to send or recieve files from friends from other carriers ex. at&t t_mobile
when i try to send a file i search for devices and theirs doesnt show up
there bluetooth is turned on and they are in discovery mode
i can easily connect to verizon phones
i was wondering if mabe im doing something wrong or can you only connect to your carrier? thanks in advance

i believe you should be able to BT to all other BT capable phones, heck i've paired up with different European phones..

carriers have been known to cripple BT because they don't want certain file types to be exchanged - ringtones/apps etc. Verizon is known for this so it is possible that you could link with only other Verizon phones. but usually it is a standard protocol that everyone should be able to use on all devices. check first if you can pair the devices or if they can see yours.
