Default Best BT for noisy environment tried jawbone but...

I am a farmer and really need the noise reduction to work well. I've read some of the topics on here that say how good particular headsets handle background noise when they are driving in their vehicle but that doesn't quite compare to the interior of a tractor or semi. I've heard good reviews about the Voyager 510 and the Scala-700. Anyone tried these in a truly noisy environment with success. Must admit, the Jawbone works awesome when it works but just can't seem to make it play nice. Have messed with it for a few days now and it will work great for a few calls then mess up the next few. Don't know what else to do but send it back and try something else. Not really any settings on the Q that I may have set wrong I don't think.
Thanks

Read through the posts but didn't see much in the way of comments on noise reduction. Top notch? Sounds like the fit and volume are really good. Thanks.

If you want the Jawbone to function properly with the original Q, you have to set your headset profile to vibrate instead of ring, based on my experience. I found the Jawbone's noise reduction to be significantly better than the Voyager 520 in my own testing.

I hope this helps!

No kidding? I haven't seen that posted on here before. So you had the same problems, and that took care of them huh? I've got mine boxed up ready to send back, but now I wonder if I should give it one more whirl.

I actually found this solution on somewhere on this site awhile back, and, yes, it works for me.

I admit, I was very impressed with the noise canceling. What type of environment were you using for background noise just out of curiosity? Any others you have tried that you felt were inferior to the Jawbone?
Thanks for your help. I'm digging the Jawbone back out now. Matt

I need the noise cancellation primarily to block out road noise at highway speeds and in loud public environments like airports, restaurants, etc.

I have tested quite a few bluetooth headsets by leaving myself voicemail from different environments, and I have found the Jawbone to be the most effective in blocking or significantly reducing background noise. Many headsets either seem to accentuate background noise or exhibit distortion of the outgoing sound in noisy areas.

I liked the Voyager 520 in quiet and moderately noisy environments and it had fewer connection quirks with the Motorola Q, but I feel that the Jawbone does better as the noise level increases. Obviously, my experience differs from others in this regard.

With your high noise environment, I do think the Jawbone will be hard to beat. Let me know if setting the headset profile to vibrate on the Q solves your connection problems like it did for me.

In the meantime, I'll continue to be on the lookout for the holy grail of headsets!

Regards,

Dave

I've been working with the Jawbone for a couple weeks now when I'm on the road and setting the headset profile to vibrate made a huge difference. There are still a few miscues here and there but I'd say only 1 in 10. My friend has a Q with a Motorola headset and has about the same amount of miscues as I do. So I'd say it did the trick. I'm glad to find that out because it does an amazing job. I was talking to before mentioned friend while driving 65 in a 1989 Volvo Semi with the passenger window down and he said it sounded as if I was in a silent room. However it does seem to have trouble with wind noise. Not sure why that is.
