Well, with AT&T if you have a messaging package but no kind of data package to go with it (like MEdia Net) they charge you for the data transfer on mms messages at a penny per kilobyte. Hence the file size limitation.

Yeah I was surprised this was actually an issue. I have only been with AT&T/Cingular/AT&T since I moved back to the states from Japan in '02.

I just thought MMS was a standard thing.

Hope you don't need the VPN function. You know a business phone that can't access files on your company's server.

I thought everyone could MMS- ATT, Tmo, and thats about all the major carriers ;) GSM ftw! As for differences, I would assume little things like a few settings and apps you can hack/delete, correct? ATnT's is up to date in terms of hardware, Q9e is about the same minus some branding; I don't see ATT messing with WM6 as much as they do with regular FW since whatever they'd want you to have isn't as big of a part of the OS as it is in FWs. Also, can we flash the unlocked WM6 to ATT Q9's? Maybe unlock the sim via code first and then flash?

"....Q9e is about the same minus some branding...."
and something else, like 3G.
The following is missing from the Q 9e spec: HSDPA technology for fast data transfers, streaming media and web browsing. I suspect that "e" is for EDGE only.

".... can we flash the unlocked WM6 to ATT Q9's?...."
There is, to date, no Nth American (ie AT&T-branded or unbranded) ROM. It's usually just a phone call to AT&T to have them send you an unlock code.

Since the phones appear to be functionally different - no HSDPA technology in the 9e - I wouldn't want the 9e ROM on my 9h phone.
