Exclamation Amp'd Bankrupt?!

I just read that Amp'd mobile went bankrupt!! Is this why I can't reach a rep at the 800#? I also called the Amp'd store and they said they have dropped Amp'd and are no longer selling or servicing their phones! What does this mean to us Amp'd customers?!

Amp'd issued an official statement on their website, here.

Your local store just dropped Amp'd for their own reasons. It probably is related to their Chapter 11 claim, but Amp'd says they aren't going anywhere.

Their statement basically says their back-end couldn't keep up with customer demand, so they filed Chapter 11 only as protection while they reorganize the company.

General

Is Amp'd going out of business?
Amp'd is potentially suspending US operations on July 24th.

How long will customer service be provided to help with issues such as ports or credits?
Customer Service will not be available after July 23rd.

Will Amp'd be bought by another carrier?
Amp'd is currently in discussions with several parties.

When I decide on my new wireless service provider - can I take my phone?
Yes, if your service provider of choice uses CDMA.


Number Porting

How do I port my number?
Select your carrier of choice and provide them with a copy of your Amp'd bill or your detailed Amp'd account information.

How long will it take to port my number?
Amp'd expects to submit all port out requests within 24 hours of receipt. Your new carrier is resonsible for the remaining part of the port process. Carrier porting processing lead times vary.

What if I have more than one person on my account?
Porting is done by phone number. Each phone number must have a port in requested with a selected carrier. If you have a multi-line account, make sure to specifically request porting for each number with your new carrier.


Billing

Do I need to pay my outstanding bill?
Yes. Failure to pay a delinquent balance may result in reporting to a credit agency.

If I am in collections now, can I negotiate with Amp'd directly to pay a lower amount on my bill?
You must work with the collection agency directly.

Will Early Termination Fee apply?
No.


Pre-Paid/Hybrid Minutes

What happens to my share plan minutes?
Amp'd share plan minutes will not be honored by your new carrier.

What happens to my Pay As You Go minutes?
If you have an outstanding unpaid credit, rebate or refund due to you, to be considered for payment, you will need to file a claim. Please see http://chapter11.epiqsystems.com/AMI for more information.

Can I port my prepaid number?
Yes, but it can only be ported to a new pre-paid service.

What happens to my Hybrid plan minutes?

Amp'd Content

Can I still buy Amp'd songs, ringtones and videos?
No.

Can I still view Amp'd songs, ringtones and videos I have already purchased?
Yes, as long as you keep your memory card.


Personal Information

Can I take my contacts to my new carrier?
Please contact your new carrier.

Will l be paid credits, rebates, or refunds owed me?

Will my personal account information be safe?
Amp'd will not disclose your account information.

I thought I read somewhere that Verizon may buy amp'd. I know they have been in financial trouble for a while.

i had amp'd last year, had the hollywood though. they shut off my service, without even telling me. no letter, no phone call.. ampd no longer exists and they are now actually run by another company, forget what its called though. and now i still to this day receive collection notices for my unpaid bill for the cycle that they shut me off, im not paying them a cent. sorrrryyy.
