Where is the backup file saved at when updating your software? - Motorola Q Forum

Ok a few days ago i tried to install the new software upgrade for my Alltel Q. About half way through the upgrade my phone disconnects from my computer without me unplugging it. Well I tried to unplug the phone and plug it back in but my computer will not read it. And when it did connect it would only connect for a second and then disconnect again. Is this a bad cable or is it my phone? Well anyways now my phone won't turn on or do anything, but I noticed before I started the update it asked if I wanted to save my personal files and I said yes. I was wondering where would this file be located? The people at alltel are telling me that unless I get it to turn on there is no way they can get my numbers off my phone...which is a big problem. Do you have any other solutions that may also help me? PLEASE YOU GUYS HERE ARE MY ONLY HOPE!!!

sadly i think you might be SOL
you should ALWAYS back up before you do an update even if it says its doing it for you

So you don't think it's a bad usb data cable that could be causing it to disconnect it from my computer?

most likely not if it worked before
did you try to do the firmware update again since you said it stopped before?

Yes i did but when i connected my phone to the computer it would read it for about two seconds and then disconnect or if i left it connected like five minutes later my computer would read it again and then disconnect suddenly.

I also thought it might have been the cable because when i hook my phone up to my wall charger it stays connected and doesnt disconnect.
