Default When or will we get Windows Mobile 6.0 on our Alltel Q?

I am a 5+ year user of the Nextel Blackberry and was really looking forward to moving to the Alltel Q with Windows Mobile. I was fortunate enough to be given a trial phone for a few days from our Alltel rep and realized that it would take some time to acclimate myself to the new phone & software. However as luck would have it I did not uncover the really annoying limitations until I switched from my Blackberry to the Q at the end of June and have now been using this in production for over a week.

The two main limitations that are driving me crazy are:

a) I cannot find a way to invite attendees to meetings that I create. Our company is highly collaborative and this is a huge issue. Right now this single issue is slowing down our business!
b) HTML emails are not supported.
c) Blackberry had many, many, many shortcuts. So far I haven’t been able to find any listings of shortcuts within Windows Mobile – do they exist?

For what it is worth, I spent a few hours at the Microsoft booth at the NXTcomm convention a couple weeks ago in Chicago. I was very impressed with what Windows Mobile 6.0 is offering. It seems to address the limitations I have found in Windows Mobile 5.0. Also, friends of mine using other carriers have phones with Windows Mobile 6.0 and love it.

Just curious if anyone has heard when/if Alltel plans to offer Windows Mobile 6.0 to us Q users?

Thanks!

welcome aboard..

be ensured that once there is news about WM6, this will be one of the places you will read about it... from what i read here and elsewhere nobody is really sure yet when and/or if it will happen, i have yet to see a carrier give a 100% yes, or no for that matter.

my advice at this point: sit back, relax and wait for what happens (or not happens :}

ps. what shortcuts are you looking for ?

Hi Rude Boy,

Thanks for the quick response. As far as carriers, I do know that TMobile is offering WM6. I've got a couple of friends using it.

In regards to shortcuts, do you know where I could find a listing of shortcuts for WM5.

Thanks!

The shortcuts I refer to in Blackberry are little tricks that make the user experience much more effiecient. A few Black Berry examples are:

1) Holding the 'T' while scrolling through emails brings you back to the Top of all your messages - your most recent message.

2) When you complete a sentence and press the space bar twice, the BB automatically puts in a period at the end of the sentence as well as captitalizes the first letter of a sentence automatically.

3) When sending a new email you can just start typing the first couple of letters of the contacts name and it autofills with options that match. So far it seems like a mutliple step process in WM to add recipients to emails??

Anyway, I realize I'm changing platforms and some things will just be different. I was just curious if there was a listing of similiar type tips/tricks/shortcuts within Windows Mobile?

Thanks!
