| The FCC still has to OK the purchase and they may not be so happy about creating another AT&T/Cingular. Maybe Alltel will have better handsets if Verizon buys them out, but I'm not going to be happy if Alltel does application locked smartphones. In the end, I hope that Verizon learns from Cingular's mistake of turning their backs on their old AT&T customers (it's why I switched to Alltel). It is worth mentioning that in the most recent Consumer Reports review of carriers, Verizon was ranked number 1 and Alltel number 2. |

| I have never had a problem with my service with Alltel and as long as that stays the same I will be happy. My employer provides me with a cell and it is with Verizon so it is kinda a win win for me. I do have one question though. When you say that Verizon locks down their phones do they lock them beyond what we already use programs like AE and others to unlock? Because if the phones can be unlocked by the same manner I have no problems with the deal.
