Question Question About Sync, I'm Stuck

I'm on a family plan with another line, and just got a Q from my sister (that she gave me b/c she hates it) to replace a phone that had shot craps on me. I have absolutely no need for internet on my phone, nor do I need to sync my calendars and everything up to my phone. All I'm trying to do is find a way to: a) get my computer to recognize my phone so I can download the free stuff from the windows mobile website and b) perhaps download my outlook contacts into the phone so I don't have to do it manually.
I've run the CD that cam with the phone already and made sure my drivers were updated.
I've tried to find something similar in the forum, but nothing really helps. I'm just hoping there's a way to do it without switching to some $100 plan. It appears I need to register this OfficeSync at this point in order to go any farther.
If anybody has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Just a beginning here but....
Assuming you have Windows XP & using Active Sync 4.5:
Before Active Sync can work Windows XP has to recognize the phone as new hardware.
Change to a different USB slot. (Assuming you have USB enabled in your systems BIOS)
Plug & unplug your phone a few times.
Reboot both the PC & the MotoQ, after rebooting both attach the USB cable to MotoQ then plug into a USB port.
Use the USB's on the back of you computer b/c they are attached directly to the Motherboard where side or front USB's are there through a cable connection.
Make sure you have all the latest updates & patches for you computer OS.
Get off the INTERNET and disable you firewall and anti-virus software & try connecting the MotoQ to the PC with the above steps.
If anyone thinks of anything else plz jump in here and let OP know. I tried thinking of "everything" but I could have missed something/anything.

That did help get everything to "find" each other. Much appreciated.
I'm beginning to wonder if getting outlook contacts to download to my Q contact list is impossible though. I just can't figure it out to save my life. Techno stuff is not my forte, but you'd think it couldn't be this hard.
Please let me know if it's even possible to go from the PC to the phone.
Thanks.

It should sync your contacts, appt's automatically by default.
Hmmm...
While you are "synced" and on the Active sync window click on Tools> Options and make sure that "Contacts" is checked. Then hit the green Sync button & see what happens.
Wait a min...
I think there is a glitch
let me check something I think I read about this a.m.
Go ahead and do the above and let me search around a minute...

This may or may not help you but some of the things that would let the phone sync with Outlook 2007 might help you.
Hope something helps that I have posted here if not then we will have to get someone with another view point. (Was going to to say "out look" but I didn't want to "pun")

Thanks.
This is an Alltel offered product. Office Sync is for syncing to your office's enterprise server. It is not necessary for users that only want to sync to their own personal computer. Hope this helps.
