Q on a family plan?

I bought a Moto Q off of ebay and added to my Family 900 plan. I do not have any kind of data plan - unlimited or otherwise - but am still able to use data on the phone. It simply shows up as data "minutes" on my bill (DATA 1X/DO). If I am in my nights/weekends minutes I can essentially use as much data as I want. The only drawback is that once I initiate a data connection the Q will reconnect intermittently unless I go to the wireless manager and reset the wireless - this would be a problem during my peak hours. In any case I am able to use data all the time without a data plan. I'm not sure if this is a mistake on Alltel's part, but that is the way it has been for me.

Thats what I thought, but I've been using my Q for four months now and have received 3 bills already - no data charges.
