Default Problem opening SOME web pages

I saw where someone else appeared to possibly be having this problem but it didn't seem to get resolved. I can open some web pages on my Q but as of the past few days cannot open others that I've accessed many times before. It just sits there after flashing the "connecting" message saying "locating" and never switches over to "opening". Eventually I get an error stating "Page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later."

I can then immediately open some other page showing it's not a connection problem. This occurs with certain specific pages that I've opened many times before. Any ideas? Alltel tech support doesn't have a clue. They attribute it to the sites I'm trying to access. I'm certain that's not the problem.

Some of the sites this is happening to are

dslreports.com/mspeed

jayski.com

jaguars.com

Also, I haven't made any recent changes to my Q. No new software. I have cleared the memory, cookies, and history. Very strange behavior. Help?

Thanks rudeboy. I think it may be something going on with Alltel. I've tried everything. There are several other pages it does it with too. But there are plenty of pages it doesn't do it with. What makes me crazy is the ones it won't load are not new ones. They're pages I've downloaded many MANY times prior to this.

I'm on Alltel in Eastern NC and all those pages opened pretty quickly using EVDO with the Opera Mobile browser. On the 400k download test I got 500kbps.

Not many that won't open with Opera Mobile but plenty I can't get into with IE.

I didn't see the browser referenced and I'll bet Big Dave is using IE.

Fun night here in SE Ga. Now my Q won't connect to anything. Keep getting the error "Login Error. Ensure that you have the correct login information and try again." Of course the login info is the same as it's always been (I haven't changed anything on the Q) so . . . . . . then the next time I try a couple of minutes later I get this error message, "Could not establish network connection" [Error:0]

My Alltel pc5740 data card is connecting intermittently as well and when it's running I'm getting a whopping 200kbps download and about 70kbps up. I normally average around 1300kbps down and 120ish up.

My wife's Razr doesn't connect either. Showing the same signs as my Q.

I know this is a Q forum but the fact that the data card is working at all just shows the network isn't down. I just wonder what the heck is going on? Too late to call and talk to tech either. I think they're only available from 9am til 9pm aren't they?

Oh what a night!

I've noticed several pages that "crash" when I open them in Pocket IE on the Q. The page starts to open, but then the browser just disappears and I'm back at the place I tried to link from. Pages at Brighthand are some of the more common ones.

That's probably a good bet. I'll bet many people (if not most) aren't even aware of other browsers for the Smartphone, and many (most?) of those who are don't bother installing them.

I just ran into that problem when I installed the new youtube/flashbundle streaming solution and found veoh.com but it kept closing IE when it finished loading the home page.

My workaround is getting the URL of the linked pages and bookmarking them so I by pass the home page (That's the only one that crashes IE)

Well, you would both lose that bet. Sorry I forgot to mention my browser in my OP. I am actually fairly knowledgeable about this "stuff" and have been using Opera since I got the Q. Last night it got so bad I couldn't connect to the web at all. Not with either browser or to any site. My wife's Razr wouldn't connect either so I chalked that all up to some type of Alltel network problem. Although strangely my PC5740 data card WOULD connect albeit excruciatingly S L O W L Y!! Less than 100kbps DL's!!

Today I'm proud to announce . . .I'm having no problem connecting via the Q with either browser. It's very slow compared to the normal 1Mbps I usually get on the Q. The sites I listed are coming up but again, very slowly. I tried testing at the dslreports site but couldn't even run the 1MB test I usually run on the Q. Running the 200k test just now the results were a paltry 46kbit/sec!! With 1.064s Latency. Sad, huh. Data card isn't happy either. Maybe they're upgrading to Rev A around here!! I have a Sprint U720 data card as well and that's the way their network was acting for a few weeks when we were getting Rev A turned on here!! Of course I digress, this isn't Q related so please forgive me for straying WAY off topic!!
