I updated this afternoon. It was hardly a "format". All of calendar, contacts, photos, cab files, text files etc remained as well as some system tweaks. I did have to reinstall and reconfigure Facade, X-Agenda, Yahoo to go, and Google maps. Didn't have a problem with restarts before, and still don't. Any improvemets? Not that I noticed. I just have to have the latest thing.

One thing I found different....if you use Hotmail and open an attachment then the menu key and scroll down you get the option to send the attachment to "your space". What a waste. Didn't do the update to put more "branding" on the phone. Not everyone has "my space" site. Like I said, just a waste of resources. My 2 pennies.
Found something else this a.m.
Can't delete "Get Office Sync" from favorites.
Ain't going to rant. Just won't get started on this...
ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hi.

I just ran this update on my Moto Q through the Alltel provided software. It did ask to backup my personal data, and though the update failed twice, probably due to restarting, it finally did finish.

Upon restart all my contacts and photos are still there, but it didn't backup my email settings or sent/received text messages. Also as expected it didn't backup any third party apps, which wasn't a big deal -- I only had Google Maps installed.

Was this a bug fix? I hoped it would be upgrading to WM6, but everything looks just as it did before, plus I see no added features or changes. If it fixes the random reboots, that alone is worth it.

Oh, and "Get Office Sync" is still there and still won't let me delete it I noticed someone mentioning this in an earlier thread.

Take care --

i just tryed to install the new update... totally fried my phone.

it seems you have to uncheck the "save personal info" box...

my phone is COMPLETELY formatted... activesync is great, but i still lost a bunch.

GL to everyone and gratz to those that got out with their phone in tact.

Mine updated fine. I think you misunderstood the "Save Personal Info" checkbox. It saves your contacts and a few other settings, but it doesn't save your program files, registry, ringtones, etc. You need a program like Sprite Backup to save all of that data...but I would argue that it's probably a good thing to reload your phone every once in a while (just not before you are able to do a backup).

yeah, reloading everything was good in a sense. my phone is running faster.

when i wrote that i had just reloaded and was quite P.O.ed... i'd tryed a bunch of times to install the update with the box checked and got an error everytime. then finally i unchecked it and it went along fine. but the thing is that the first time i tryed the update, it screwed my phone. i couldn't use it at all. i couldn't even check my contacts to call somone who cared... it had started the update and crapped out in the middle leaving the phone with a really messed up OS.

all is good now. after 3 hours of finding, reinstalling and resetting up everything it's running great.

Hmm, I did the upgrade yesterday as I mentioned in a prior post, and the phone is running quicker plus no reboots, which is nice. Problem though is Gmail no longer works through Messaging. It did wipe my email settings, which i expected, but after setting them back up it acts like it's downloading mail, but nothing ever appears in the Inbox. I even tried to send an email from my phone through Gmail and it never came across.

I'll have to investage this further and try another POP3/SMTP account, but having setup many POP3 accounts on this phone in the past, multiple times even since I did a hard reset on it twice since having it, I've never had a problem.

Hmm... does anyone else use gmail with their phone (via POP3/SMTP) and have the update? IF so, does it work???

Thanks ,

Sam

It also brings the device into HAC (hearing aid compliant) standards and improves the overall experience.
WRONG! Alltel phone came with MSFP. When the Q first launched for verizon it didnt have MSFP. The first update for Verizon Q added MSFP to Q. When it launched for Alltel it already had MSFP.

Ya, its real BS!! I just updated and wasnt aware that it only saves everything in the My Documents folder! That really sux, cuz i had a ringtone and pics for each one of my contacts. My photo contacts pro is gone too I dont see why its so hard for them to program a program that doesnt delete stuff that wasnt originally on the phone! Technology is so stressful
