MOL4 is out for Alltel

I've been lurking on here for a while now, but I thought I'd chime in on this. I am doing the update now, and will post back whether it fixes the power cycling or not. If that issue can be fixed, I'll love my Q like the day I bought it again (when Alltel first got it). Lately, I've been wanting to see how it would hold up to a bullet since it feels the need to restart several times daily.
One interesting thing though, when I got my 3rd (current) Q from Alltel, it was on a Friday so I left it as "just a phone" for the weekend (no email or data usage). It never once restarted. Once I put 1 email account on it, it started doing its thing though!

Oh well, maybe this will indeed fix the problems so I can buy some more toys for it.

**EDIT** I just finished the update and was setting my Q back up for about the 10th time or so. While doing the hacks, when I went to disable the startup sound it is already set to *none* ... it won't surprise me if all this update did is turn off the sound so people won't hear the phone restarting! Time will tell...

I've just downloaded the Motorola Software from the www.motorola.com/update site but it doesn't recognize that my Q is connected?

My Q will connect to ActiveSync though. Anyone have any ideas?

Try starting MSU before connecting the phone, always works for me.

I found that this was the issue:-

Press Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC > and then check Enable Advanced Network Functionality

Now it works. Haven't updated yet though, going to back everything up first!

I did the update last week or so and didn't really notice anything. I was also surprised to see some of my registry settings unchanged since part of the process is 'format drive'.

I couldn't find what the new update provides/fixes. Am loathe to reinstall all my apps and fiddle with settings unless update is worthwhile.

My next question is what do those things actually mean!

I've done the upgrade already and I'm finding that the Q is running much faster. Mind you that may be just because I had to reinstall everything and the general cleanup just made it run better.

I hate to jinx myself, but since installing the update I have not caught my q restarting anymore. Anyone else that was having this problem care to chime in?
