Default IX and EVDO

As I sit here at my desk in North Oklahoma I have my Q plugged into my laptop via ActiveSync and the network symbol keeps jumping from 1X to EV.

Any idea why it jumps between the too and doesn't stick on EVDO? I want EVDO all the time!!!

Craig

Weak signal area.

At home I jump between the 2 and also between Sprint home service and roaming. These are battery killers as the phone is always trying for a signal.

I don't do it, but in the Field Test Menu (dial ##33284#) Option B then E HDR Preference: you can set it to EV only. Although if you actually have a weak EVDO signal you might keep losing the connection and it may not help. I haven't played with this, as I generally use Verizon FIOS at home even with my Q. As I have such a weak signal I connect via Activesync and use my computers internet connection if I want to download anything quickly or significant with my Q.
