| Great Way to get around Alltel data plan ok so i wasnt 100% sure on my alltel plan if it would cover data or not but anyway i had a rate plan and i had the unlimited axcess pass which is 19.99 and includes unlimited messaging and mobile web. Well i found out at the end of the month that my bill was $620 so i called alltel tonight and told them that the alltel store in my area told me that i had unlimited data which i didnt and they saw how much i used the internet which is for business so i they backcharged me all of the data and i found out unlimited data is only $9.99 which is not what the store told me they told me the smartphone plan is like $80 a month so now i only pay $40 a month for unlim txt and data and nationwide roaming mins sooo i just thought id inform everyone to talk to tech support and not to the stores because they are cheats and just try to get all your *excuse me* damn money which is retarded hope this helps |

It depends on which dumb *ss you talk to frankly. |

| I have had the same experience with the store. The last jacka** told me that using the Q as a modem would burn minutes on my plan, which is not what the first jacka** said the time before. I prefer to talk with people who don't earn comission by selling me stuff. |

Then if you like to get on the internet you need to buy $10 data plan that together is $30 then just your basic minute rate plan plus the $30 and in my case im saving money and cheating alltel b/c of their foney smartphone plan they say that you have to have or your phone wont work b/s. Altogether the cost is going to vary on what your lifestyle is with your mins... |

Altogether the cost is going to vary on what your lifestyle is with your mins... | It probably all comes out in the wash for me, because I use the internet heavily. I KNEW that SR was feeding me a line of bullsh*t when I REPEATEDLY said I don't want to get the smartchoice or smartphone plan or whatever it was. I knew going into it that I DID NOT have to have it that way but he insisted. . . "you have to have it this way if you get this phone." My big ol' BUTT!
Oh well. |

| Will one of you drop me an email when you get CAUGHT and they back-bill your cheatin' butts?
I'm always up for a good laugh -
We had a dude come into one of our stores last week with a $900.00 bill for trying that crap.
If you can't afford it, and can't afford to pay for the service, then go back to your V265.
Do you steal cable too?
Nothin but love brothers and sisters, but just be careful what you try to get away with. It's my experience after 5+ years as an Alltel dealers kid that they DO FIND YOU. It might take years my friends, but they DO FIND YOU and you WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE CHARGES.
Not being a preacher, and you're all grown.....do your thing.
All respect -
tjk

| ok i'm with RokJok on this 1. i worked for alltel on both ends of the sepectrum, their retention dept in a call center and then as a tech rep in a store.
i'll clear a couple of things up...
1st you do not need a data plan to use the phone, but you will lose out on being able to sent or recieve picture messages because the Q use the e-mail data feature to send the photo. you can send regular txt messages though no problem.
2nd the unlimited plan that every was refering to was a non-evdo data plan, whats the difference evdo is high speed internet kind of like road runner, the standard datat plan is more like dial up. also when they say its unlimited its refering to unlimited data transfers... what does that mean well if if your veiwing a web page thats heavily load with photos the phone still has to download that info, on the less exspencive plans they would give you up to 4mb free or 10 mb free and then a flat rate after that.
with the unlimited it doesn't matter, but here the catch your still using air time or as most people call it your mins. this is why, if your on one of those plans your bill is out the roof.
the other plan is a high speed internet connection and it doesn't use any of your air time so its truely unlimited. expensive i'll agree, truly unlimited.
when i bought my Q they told me the same things, but having been in the buisness, i knew the work arounds, but i also sit in front of a computer for hours on end at work so the need for the service just wasn't there for me.
as for the commisson, itsmore like a spiff plan for the sales people, all the employees at alltel are paid hourly, they do have a quota to hit yes, and they do get a "Bonus", but if you as the customer remove the internet package or txt mssging or any of those features that they try to sell you, and its within the 1st 6 months of them putting it on. guess what the rep is charged back for, so there is incentive to push it yes, and when i worked in the call center there was alot of people that pulled some shady **it, but they got theirs in the end.
i hope that help some of you better understand the buisness.
o yeah 1 more thing all those extra features i.e txt, web, insurance, and the lot of them is pure profit for all cell phone providers, this is why they lock you in to 1yr and 2yr plans and why you get such a discount on the phones believe it or not they lose money everytime they sell a phone and the features is how they recope it. |

| I've been trying (half-assed) to find a way to save a few bucks a month on my plan, It is all pretty confusing to be honest and I like to think I'm a pretty intelligent guy. I spend 180$ per month on my Q with unlimited data, 3 other phones (all non-smart with unlim. text), 1200 anytime, early nights and free weekends and callertunes. I have drudged through the plans trying to work it out but for some reason my eyes start to hurt (I blame the blonde guy on the website) and I just stop caring. It's easier to pay the bill than to figure out if you are getting scrwed. |
