Default Alltel won't return Moto Q

I have a hearing Disability, and this Q isn't working for me as far as ringtones, audible volume, etc. I had to tear the end section of the box apart to do the rebates. I threw the box away because it wouldn't fold up, and i wasn't planning on wanting to return the box. Now, Alltel won't return it because there is no box. They said it's a motorola policy. Motorola says that they DO return phones without boxes. Any suggestions how i can beat the system on this problem? I'd hate to have this be an Americans with Disabilities Act issue. tx.

if motorola said that it is possible to return on without a box then you should ask them to send you something in writing that you can give alltel to proove them wrong. this way they have to take it if they are quote what they believe is motorola's policy....never hurts to try!

Next time you talk with Alltel or Motorola, ask for the rep's supervisor (automatically escalate the issue up the chain). If encounter a roadblock with that guy, ask for his supervisor and so on. That'll get the "low man on the totem pole" who doesn't know what ADA means or Alltel's or Motorola's policy concerning it.

Once you get a manager who sounds like they actually care, explain your situation with as much detail as possible. The last thing a manager needs is an issue that they have to fill out paperwork for that they have to report to their boss (and look like they can't do their job). So they'll try to resolve issues asap within the dept. You don't want a hassle and they don't want a hassle either so you can always hold the threat of filing a complaint with their boss over their heads.

All those first-level reps and techs are just bombarded with calls and all they want to do is get those tickets out of the way to free room for the next set of call. They don't have the time (or even care) about someone's specific issues. They just follow their checklist of procedures and if you're the square peg that doesn't fit in their round slot, you're SOL.

Not to be mean...but you shouldn't have been an idiot and threw away the box. Any moron knows that you can't return something w/o a box unless you go to Wal-Mart. A policy is a policy and if you sent off the rebate then I agree...your sol.

Uness I missunderstood, I though that once you processed your rebate for the Q it was not returnable unless for a waranty exchange. I always save the packaging until I am sure that i am satisfied with something!

I'm curious, will you be returning the rebate money?

"Not to be mean", not sure of your definition of "mean", I would say you're being unkind, calling a person an "idiot" or implying they are a "moron". Try being a bit friendlier, you'll go farther and life will be easier, just a little advice from someone who has low regard for people that are discourteous and unkind.

It doesn't matter what problem you have, a policy is a policy. Especially if you already sent off for the rebate, which requires you to send a copy of your next bill, and you have 30 days to return it if you have the box, and all the original equipment undamaged. So you should be past the return period before you even send off for the rebate. Although I sympathize with your situation, you should have kept the box until you knew you wanted to keep it and liked the phone. And for that guy that we have to deal with every day saying "SHOW ME THIS IN WRITING!" "Any equipment purchased can be returned within 15 days of the purchase date with the following criteria: must be in the original packaging, free of noticeable abuse, accompanied by this receipt." And on a smartphone you actually have 30 days. so we give you some extra time to get comfortable with the phone, because all smart phones have huge learning curves for the average consumer. But you can't blame a business for sticking to its guns on issues.
