Is there a way of telling where the EVDO coverage is to know wether it's worth loading a new PRL? I have just noticed that in certain areas my Q shows up as on EV but not for long so wondering wether it's worth changing over or not.

Also has anyone noticed whether they are getting changed roaming costs when they do this?

Alltel's EvDO maps are here:

And Sprint's are here:
http://coverage.sprintpcs.com/IMPACT.jsp
On sprints maps just give it you location and then it will give you a map. To see EvDO coverage besure to click the broadband check mark.

Basically the datacard/treo PRL will give you coverage on Alltel's Ev first, if Alltel isn't Ev in that area then it will fall back to Sprint Ev, then Alltel 1x then Sprint 1x and so on.

You shouldn't get roaming charges. Treo's with the same plan don't get charged. I need to check my bill and see if I have any charges. I think I have been a full month on PRL 40007 now. I have been all over the place too and had Ev everywhere. I was racing at Roebling Road Raceway (west of Savannah GA) over the weekend and had EvDO service. I was there last year and could hardly even place a voice call let alone do Ev Data. The weekend before that I was at the Ritz in Amalia Island and had Ev service too. I was there a for the Concours d'Elegance in March this year and had bad service too. So this PRL is an improvement.

That really shows the PRL difference ermax. Amelia Island has had Sprint Rev A for about a year now. I live in St. Marys, Ga. right across the line and was at the Concours d'Elagance too (the Ritz is right next to Peter's Point where we go to the beach 4 or 5 days each week) and uploaded pics via my laptop and Sprint U720 and was very happy to see Rev A there. We've even had it here for about a year too.

Alltel has EVDO across a lot of south and southeast Ga. that doesn't show up on their map yet. The first I've seen of Alltel Rev A is in Dublin, Ga. about halfway between Savannah and Macon on I-16. I'm sure it's that way all over their native areas. The map pretty much sux at best and it's quite a ways behind as well!
