USCC isn't a company that runs at the bleeding edge of technology. Our CEO, Jack Rooney, has been quoted many a time as admitting that and even stating it's part of our strategy. We're not interested in trying to "out-Sprint" Sprint's network, or to "out-Verizon" Verizon's service offerings.
Tethered usage has an effect on our overal network performance that isn't something we feel we can support while still providing the best possible customer experience. So we don't support it at all.
It sounds like this may surprise you, but you can have a customer's best interests at heart and still say no to that customer. |
Strategy, yes but at what cost?
Living in Maine certainly has it's major disadvantages. Mostof the cell companies really could give a rats' ass about providing any sort of speedy service to their customer base (Verizon and AT&T certainly included)
All I see from the cell companies currently in Maine is let's bleed the population dry and offer very limited services since Maine is very much a "podunk state"
That is the impression I have felt from company to company (I have tried and hated them all)
Someday, a cell company will have the balls to step up to the plate and give Mainers that same type of network enjoyed by those who congregate in larger cities.
All the while, I continue to pay over $200 a month for a family plan with five lines which includes $65 in data plans (my wife has a blackberry, I have the Q)
US Cellular currently is the lesser of several evils.
