okay..
1. go to Messaging
2. select any of those
3. choose Menu
4. Options
5. Account Options
6. choose account (Gmail)
7. Next, Next till you see:
Connect automaticlly and check for messages:
8. set this to how often you want it to check.
9. Next
10. Finish
