Thinking of getting the Q, need some assistance deciding. I'm a newbie, as you all can probably tell.
I'm deciding between a Palm Treo700w and the 'Q'. I have never used a Treo before but I have played with it enough, as well as the Q, at my local Verizon wireless dealer.
Basically, the real reason why I am contemplating on getting a PDA is mainly because I am tired of trying to type on a regular cellphone keypad. I have no real need for editing documents, pop3 or enterprise email, or any of the mobile office apps out there. I just need a phone/PDA that I can easily type text messages with speedily, as well as be able to create appointments on a mobile calendar application. I'm a mobile disc-jockey so the aforementioned features are very important as I constantly meet new clients and need a quicker way of getting their info down. PDA phones might be overkill for this purpose but I have looked at other phones and have found none, except for the V from LG (Verizon Wireless) but the screen is too small and Im not crazy about the design, form factor, and its ease of use as it is really not that easy to use. I have read thru many reviews and have narrowed down my choices down to two: Treo or Q?
Both phones seem to be able to meet my expectations but I am leaning more towards the 'Q'. I have learned of a few limitations which kinda disappointed me about the 'Q' such as wifi support and it's browser. Eventhough the 'Q' has a mini SD slot, it won't support SDIO...this sux!!! I would really welcome this feature as I would like to connect my 'Q' at my office's wireless LAN for internet access. Also, in the city that I live in, there are free wifi hotspots so I would really love to have this feature on the 'Q'. Another thing that bothered me is the fact that the Q's internet browser somehow doesn't recognize java buttons. When I logged into my yahoo webmail, none of the compose, reply, forward, and other buttons are selectable, the scroll wheel just passes right by it and won't allow me to click on any of them.
I am hoping that there are some work around for these issues as I really like the 'Q'. I was at a Best Buy store this evening and I almost purchased the Treo 700w but I held back. I'm hoping for some clarification and maybe some tips on getting the most out of this phone/PDA. Encouragements are always welcome.
