Here's what I found in that post that looked interesting:
- Create a folder called "MAPI" on the Storage Card
- make a folder inside that called "Attachments"
- Move everything from \windows\messaging to \Storage Card\MAPI
- Fire up a registry editor for the smartphone and browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MAPI
- Change AttachPath to "\Storage Card\MAPI\Attachments"
- Change PropertyPath to "\Storage Card\MAPI"
- Reboot your phone
According to
the blog I got these instructions from you should see all of your existing mail in the inbox, which is really being read off of the storage card, and all new mail will go to the storage card.
According to
Item 3 on the FlexMail 2007 FAQ (for a different product that supposedly accomplishes a similar task), it may also help to modify the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\PNPUnload Delay key in the registry to 4096 (4 seconds) so the phone waits a while for the card to become readable before giving up on it.
Are there any dangers to moving to the storage card using these steps? am I running a risk of messing things up and loosing email?
Will contacts still reside on the phone memory, or do I risk him loosing his contacts?
We never sync this with a PC, only with the server, will the fix still work, and will we delete things on the server if it syncs and doesn't find the emails where it thinks they should be?
(I'm just a little over protective of my boss' phone, since I need him to sign all my purchase orders, not to mention my performance reviews!)
Oh, and
THANKS! that thread helped out a TON!
