I always preferred the strobe tuner myself. They're large and incredibly expensive, but there's nothing better for tuning. Basically there's 1 spinning disk that corresponds to each pitch in a chromatic scale. when the pitch you play is perfectly in tune, the corresponding disk will stop spinning (and slows when you are close) spins clockwise if you are sharp and counter clockwise if you are flat.
